I had the opportunity to attempt Alpamayo and Huascaran with Peru Mountain Explorers in July 2011. Yessica Macedo was very helpful in setting up the logistics of my trip and arranging for travel and accommodations. Victor served as the guide. He is a very friendly person with excellent technical climbing skills and one who has summited each of these mountains on a number of prior occasions. Our cook, Luis, was not only a cocinar grande, but an excellent mountaineer himself, as were our porters, Evert and Maricio. Because of unusually heavy snow, I was unable to summit |

either peak, but did get above high camp on Alpamayo and made it to 6300 meters on Huascaran.
Despite not being able to summit these peaks, I had an incredible experience and highly recommend the services of Peru Mountain Explorers.

"I had the pleasure of doing the Santa Cruz trek in the Cordillera Blanca with Peru Mountain Explorers in July of 2011. All of the arrangements for the trip worked out exactly as planned and we were picked up promptly at the appointed time at our hotel. Our group was led on the trek by our guide Edith, the cook Frael, and the burro driver Tony. They were a very pleasant, friendly, and hard-working crew. As we hiked, Edith made sure that the pace was comfortable for all in the group and that we took breaks and had snacks and water as necessary. |

She described the history and natural features of the SantaCruz valley, which added to our appreciation of the fantastic scenery.
For lunch every day, Frael set up a table and chairs, and prepared an appetizing meal. As we hiked, Tony went ahead with the burros and set up the camp so that our tents were ready when we arrived. Our tents and dining facilities were very clean and sanitary. Breakfast and dinners were eaten in the dining tent at the camps. We always looked forward to Frael’s dinners. I especially enjoyed the lomo saltado and the potato soup.
All-in-all, it was a great experience and opportunity to see the wonderful scenery of the Cordillera Blanca. Victor’s company was very organized, professional, and friendly. I would recommend Peru Mountain Explorers to anyone considering the Santa Cruz trek. "

With the help of Peru Mountain Explorers, I reached the summit of Pisco on a nice clear morning just two days ago. I found Victor Sanchez to be a very capable professional mountain guide, and I found his team of support people to be very friendly. This climb was an extraordinary experience for me. Very rewarding. The beauty was awesome. The process was very physically demanding, yet overall it was a wonderful experience. Thanks Victor and all.

Climbing Expedition August 13th to August 30th 2010 Goals-Climbing Piscoe and Huascaran Victor and his staff did excellent work and planning for my expedition. I am 51 years old. The hotels Victor choose were well thought out. Transportation to and from airport was timely and needed. I would recommend flying from Lima to Huaraz vrs the long bus trip. I did get to see the country side and the ride into the mountains was breathtaking.
On Huascaran, the guide to climber ratio was strong and we had two cooks and a few porters. I think Huascaran is a serious climb and a few more days at the lodge might have been |

a good idea. Victor has endless energy. Bring your own snacks as Huaraz is very limited in food selection. Jerkey and cheese snacks are hard to find. There was always hot tea and water for drinks. Lots of hot soup as well. This part of Peru Is worth seeing. I do recommend using Victor for serious climbs around Huaraz. Truly a climbing meca.

During research for my trip to the Cordillera Blanca, I was fortunate to come across Peru Mountain Explorers. Therefore, I had the opportunity to climb Vallunaraju with Victor and his Peru Mountain Explorers team from the 15th to the 17th August 2009. From preparations via email for the trip to meeting Victor and his wife in Huaraz before climb departure I was given fantastic support and service as they ensured preparations for departure were right, Victor even lending me his ‘lucky’ jacket. I had the opportunity to use the services of Peru Mountain Explorers from July 15-22, 2009 in my climbs of Ishinca and Tocllaraju in the Cordillera Blanca. My experience with Victor Sanchez Caldua was truly outstanding, from the time I first contacted him by e-mail, to the 2 AM wake up calls to prepare for our climbs to the summits, to our goodbyes when he and his family took me from his house to the bus station in Huaraz to begin my journey back to the U.S. Not only is Victor an outstanding guide with excellent technical climbing skills, but he truly cares about his clients’ enjoyment of the mountains and the entire experience. He is highly organized, flexible, enthusiastic, and has great support staff—and the equipment we used was top-notch. The meals prepared in the mess tent by our cook, Frael, were delicious and nutritious, and better than any I ate in the cities. |

I was privileged to be ‘adopted’ into Victor’s family for a few days in Huaraz, attending the birthday dinner of his 4-year old daughter, Estefani. His entire family is incredibly gracious and hospitable. I have many fond memories of my time in Peru, owing to the remarkably personable and professional approach used by Victor and his staff of Peru Mountain Explorers.

I would highly recommend Peru Mountain Explorers for your expeditions in the Cordillera Blanca. I climbed Alpamayo in August 2008 well guided by the certified mountain guide Wilder Javier and his team of porter, cook and donkey driver. |

Excellent food throughout the expedition and all smooth logistics (from airport pick-up to purchasing of airline tickets) made my expedition a truly enjoyable experience. All provided climbing gear was in good condition and plans could be adjusted to current weather conditions in a very flexible way. Happy climbing!

“I have been climbing internationally for the last 8 years and have always used guides for safety and to enhance the experience of the trip. I look for guides that have knowledge of the local area and the climb as well as organizational skills. Victor and his team guided me up Alpamayo and Huascaran in August of 2008. They are the best guide service I have used to date any where in the world. Very well planned, top notch equipment, great food, very friendly staff and they took the time to explain every part of the trip and the climbs. They were also flexible as we changed the program a few times once it was started. I definitely felt like I was part of Victor’s family during the trip. In fact, we got to meet his family and ate with them several times. |

I would highly recommend Victor Sanchez and Peru Mountain Explorers as a guide and support service for both mountain climbing and trekking in and around the Cordillera Blanca in July 2007. My buddy and I hired him to organize our two week climbing trip to climb Pisco and Chopicalqui. He organized every detail of our trip including airport pickup, transfers, lodging, acclimation, and climbing support. His on-mountain services were excellent and the team gear he provides was of the highest quality. I can't say enough about the excellent food his team provided – three huge meals a day and several snacks in between. |

I enjoyed a fantastic trekking in Huayhuash in July 2006, with 4 of my friends.
I contacted Victor, the president of Peru Mountain Explores, as a friend of mine climed a mountain with him last year and strongly recommended him.
We had only 6 days for the trekking and we wondered if it is too short to enjoy Huayhuash, however, he arranged the fantastic tour for us in 6 days.
His arrangements were perfect. The route was filled with dynamic scenery of mountains, lakes and local cultures. The guide could speak English very well and the cook studied special dishes for Japanese.
As we wanted an economy & reasonable prices, firstly we asked Victor to estimate each itemized cost, such as;
guide ---/per day,
cook ---/per day,
donkey driver ---/day,
donkey ---/day
and so on.
As the result, we used 1 less number of donkeys than the estimation, and he finally reduced the cost for it. |

We asked him a lot of things, and he surely responded all of our wishes.
Victor is a really faithful and trustful man.

My experience with Peru Mountain Explorers was fantastic! My friend
Debbie and I did the 4 day Santa Cruz trek in the Cordillera Blanca with
our guide, Edgar, and our cook, Edgar. After being picked up at the bus
station and brought to our hostel, we left for the hike. The scenery was
amazing, and the food was even better! Our guide showed us Alpamayo, the
most beautiful mountain in the world. We walked through farmlands,
highlands, grasslands, lowlands...the terrain was so diverse! Turquoise
lakes, waterfalls, snowcapped mountains...all of it was so beautiful. It
was nice to have a dnkey driver to carry the heavy things, such as the

food and tents. It made it much easier for us to do the walk. Our guide
was very nice and always seemed to have our best-interest and safety in
mind, which was very comforting. He also spoke English very well ,which
was helpful. It was a great experience, and would pay for it again if I
could!

I am not exaggerating when I say that the pancakes he made in the
mornings were the best I have had on my entire 4 month trip through South
America. He also made a fantastic Lomo Saltado, good desserts, and a
perfect spaghetti bolognese.
Plus, he kindly woke us up every morning
with a cup of hot mate! Great service!

Wir waren vom 19.07. 2005 bis 26.07.2005 mit Victors Unterstützung im Ishincatal und haben die Berge Urus (5 420m), Ishinca (5 530m), Tocllaraju (6 032m) erfolgreich bestiegen.
Victor und seine Crew haben uns optimal versorgt und unterstützt. Sie waren sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und wir haben sehr schnell ein hohes Maß an Vertrauen zu ihnen gewonnen. Victor spricht gut englisch, wir konnten aber auch unsere Spanischkenntnisse einsetzen und verbessern. Im Basislager war er ein sehr angenehmer Gesprächspartner. So dass wir über das Bergsteigen hinaus noch jede Menge über Land und Leute und die peruanische Kultur erfahren haben. Unvergesslicher krönender Abschluß der Tour war eine Pachamanca (peruanischer Erdofen / Grillfest) anlässlich Victors Geburtstag zu der wir auch eingeladen wurden. |

Zelt und Seile haben wir nicht selbst mitgebracht. Wir bekamen ein neues Mountain Hardware Zelt welches sich auch im Hochlager hervorragend bewährt hat. Das Küchenzelt war sehr grosszügig bemessen. Die Speisen welche Victor I (der Koch) uns zubereitet hat waren sehr schmackhaft und gut auf die Bedürfnisse von Bergsteigern abgestimmt. Die Tage welche wir mit Victor und seinen Leuten verbracht haben werden uns noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben. |
